Hudson Link for Higher Education
Mission StatementWe envision lives that are transformed with the help of education in order to break the cycle of crime and poverty. To make this vision a reality, Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison provides college education, life skills and re-entry support to incarcerated men and women so they can make a positive impact on their own lives, their families and communities, resulting in lower rates of recidivism, incarceration and poverty.
Project AbstractIn conjunction with Hudson Link's Educational Programs, Post-Release Support Services has as its major goal to supply Hudson Link released alumni with gently used/new laptop computers for their job searches and employment needs. This technology is a necessity in today's world for Hudson Link alumni to be competitive in the work environment.
Target PopulationHudson Link alumni are formerly incarcerated individuals, both make and female, whose average age is 32, and have served an average of ten years each. At present Hudson Link has 337 released alumni, 105 of those in 2014 alone. To date in 2015, 56 alumni have been released. By year's end the number will be at minimum 115. Due to the growth of Hudson Link education programs the number of returning alumni will continue to grow exponentially year by year.
