Workshops for Warriors
Mission StatementWorkshops for Warriors (WfW) is the only accredited 501 (c) 3 non- profit in the U.S. dedicated to training, certifying, and placing Veterans and Wounded Warriors. As a result of the generosity of our many private and corporate donors and sponsors, WfW has a 100% placement rate as a result of our accelerated program culminating in job-ready veterans that are placed into CAD/CAM, CNC Machining, Welding, and Fabrication careers in San Diego and across America. Most importantly, this proven program is scalable, modular, and can be replicated across the United States. This compressed training program is urgently needed as veterans face significant barriers to employment and need high quality training that culminates in stackable credentials.
Project AbstractWorkshops for Warriors needs to double its capacity for producing trained machinists, certified in SolidWorks and MasterCam, to help meet the need for these trained professionals in the workforce. Right now our waiting list for classes is overflowing with veterans and wounded active duty personnel transitioning out of the service. Each of these men and women is looking for the training that would lead to solid-paying careers in manufacturing. One of our limiting factors is our number of workstations. To double our capacity, we will need to have fifteen more computers and monitors, an equal number of additional software licenses, and one additional instructor and an aide to accomplish this project.
Target PopulationThe population we serve is veterans and wounded warriors in the process of transitioning out of the military. While we accept veterans of all ages, 80% of our students are under the age of 26. Currently 60% of students have service-related injuries.
