Donated Computers Help California Students (and Families)
Menlo-Atherton High School is located about 30 miles south of San Francisco.  Many of their students have no access to home computers.  Their PTA coordinates a computer donation program in which local residents, and donors from the National Cristina Foundation provide computers, which are then refurbished and distributed in the school and to students for home use.  The coordinator of the program, Sue Kayton, recently described the impact of these computers.

From her letter:
The National Cristina Foundation has arranged for the donation of dozens of almost-new computers and printers to our public school PTA. Many of them have gone into classrooms to replace broken or ancient, obsolete equipment. But the majority have been sent home with hard-working deserving students who use the computers to type their homework, practice their math skills, improve their typing speed, and research online.

The machines have made a HUGE difference in our school. Now the teachers can assign homework, knowing that every student at the school has access to a computer at home.

But the computers do more than just help the students and teachers. Once a computer is in a student's home, they teach their siblings and parents how to use the computer also. The parents use the computer to download tax forms, check on their student's attendance, do online banking, etc.
THANK YOU, NCF!
