Washington Church Distributes Donated Computers to Meet Local Needs

Many local reuse projects provide equipment to a wide range of people in need in their community.  One such program is sponsored by the St Mary Star of The Sea Catholic Church in Port Townsend, Washington.  Their letter describes the many different local needs for donated computers.

They wrote:
We recently donated a system to a college student that could not afford one. We've been getting request from college students because they have nothing to do their home work on.

The one before that was a disabled veteran who had an old Pentium 2 computer that went out and he could not afford to buy a new one.

We donated a system to a women who has epilepsy, and has had brain surgery. The computer is how she stays mentally active and in touch with her friends.

One was donated to an elderly woman who has no funds to buy a computer. She now has dialup and emails her daughter every day.

There have been others, but this will give you an idea of what we have been doing. I am a disabled veteran and cannot work, but when I can, I put these systems together and then my wife delivers them. If they don't know how to use a computer I go along to show them.
