Donated Computers Bring Technology to Connecticut School
Giant Steps School is a private, not-for-profit organization in Southport, Connecticut that serves children ages 3-21, that have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders and related developmental disorders.  By incorporating state of the art educational and therapeutic techniques in a safe and nurturing environment, they try to maximize each student’s potential, and facilitate their efforts to become contributing members of society.

The National Cristina Foundation has certainly helped to improve, advance, and facilitate the technological enhancement of Giant Steps School. Not long after the inception of Giant Steps it was clear that we needed to upgrade and acquire new technological resources. Computers were arriving in dribs and drabs via varying methods making it difficult to catapult the organization into the new millennium where general technology is concerned.

Shortly thereafter, Giant Steps School's former executive director and current president of the board of directors came across the National Cristina Foundation and asked if we could pursue a relationship in order to help further our newly implemented Technological Advancement Initiative. During the first year of our newly created partnership with the National Cristina Foundation, the school started to receive an influx of beneficial computer system donations.

These donations served to create the backbone of our school's technological infrastructure allowing for our students to be more fully exposed to all of the educational and facilitative benefits that modern technologies have to offer. Everything from internet access, printing capabilities, office software utilization, design, and research to educational and therapeutic software products were now more readily available to our students on a much more widespread basis.

With this, our students were poised and positioned to benefit more fully from the wide array of technological resources that were subsequently made available to them on a more inclusive basis through the Cristina Foundation. All in all, on behalf of all of the Giant Steps School students and staff, we would like to thank the NCF for everything they have done and contributed! Sincerely,
