We are pleased to announce a new pilot program in which companies in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Delaware can donate computers, printers, scanners, etc. that provides you with a recycling option to add to your philanthropic planning.
Although the National Cristina Foundation has primarily focused on giving a second productive life to working computers, we realize that all electronics will eventually require a responsible end-of-life solution.
Knowing that more than 1000 tons of electronic waste (also known as e-waste or e-scrap) is disposed of daily, we have sought a solution that will enable us to work together to fully ‘close the loop’ on the lifecycle of technology.

This pilot project will enable us to meet two important objectives:
- It will make it possible for donors to donate the metal value of the e-scrap through asset recovery firms (MaSeR Recycling Partners) that follow verifiable environmentally sound practices.
- Asset recovery firms can identify reusable equipment that can be donated to our partner network, and then provide assurances for free computer take-back of this equipment when this equipment comes to the end of its (second) useful life.
For this initial pilot, equipment will be collected in New Jersey and the surrounding states through MaSeR recycling partner Hesstech, LLC, located in Edison, NJ.
Non-reuseable scrap will be sent from Hesstech to MaSeR Corporation. The MaSeR Recovery Process is a unique combination of delamination and recovery technologies that maximizes material value by effectively upgrading scrap materials to commodity grade metal and plastics for reuse. We know of no method of recycling that is more environmentally sound.
The process enables the electronics to be converted to metals and plastics that are ready to be sold for use as raw materials for new products. The value of the recovered materials (after processing expenses) will be donated to the National Cristina Foundation to help support our work.
Donors get both the peace-of-mind that comes from knowing that their equipment has been recycled in an environmentally proper fashion (which also assures the total elimination of electronic data), and will be eligible for a potential tax deduction.
The equipment will be collected by MaSeR's recycling partners, who will sort, prepare and ship the equipment to MaSeR.
Hesstech, the pilot recycling partner, was established in 1997, and is a recognized leader in developing new technologies and setting industry standards. Donors can schedule a delivery of equipment to Hesstech. Companies in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Connecticut can also contract with Hesstech to arrange for pick-up and other services. (Click here to request information)
