Jude Ndambuki, a high school chemistry teacher by day, searches for discarded computers in his spare time. For eight years, he's been refurbishing computers and other technology resources destined for landfills, then shipping them to students in his native Kenya. He accepts no compensation, but for each computer donated, Ndambuki requests that recipients plant 100 trees, with the hope of maker Kenya a greener, more environmentally friendly country. For his efforts tying together educational development and environmental consciousness, he has been recognized as CNN Hero.
