Many partners of the National Cristina Foundation have struggled with the cost required to equip refurbished computers with appropriate application software.  This will soon no longer be the case as Microsoft announced today that beginning in 2010 they will be providing a free download version of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

While likely to take only a small bite out of Office revenues in the short term, the move represents one of the most radical steps yet by Microsoft as it tries to refocus its software business around the internet, according to analysts.

The availability of these applications will go a long way in supporting non-profit programs through the provision of current market tools for use in training and empolyment programs.
