Angelina Jolie (seen here during a visit to Pakistan in her role as UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador) and Brad Pitt have announced a $200,000 donation to support IRC education programs for Iraqi children. Photo: Courtesy UNHCRThe International Rescue Committee announced in June that the Jolie-Pitt Foundation donated $1 million to children impacted by the Iraq crisis.  $200,000 as well is going to IRC's education program for children living in Southern Iraq.  The International Rescue Committee is an NCF Partner; from their website: "We provide access to safety, sanctuary, and sustainable change for millions of people whose lives have been shattered by violence and oppression."

From the article:
The funding will help the IRC rehabilitate three rundown and overcrowded schools in Najaf and Karbala that are struggling to accommodate influxes of displaced Iraqi children. The gift will also be used to provide catch-up classes for children who have missed schooling due to violence and safe recreational areas for children to play.
