Colleges are going deeper into their waiting list to fill spots in their classrooms. Even the Ivy League colleges such as Harvard are going 150 to 175 deep. Students using early-admission programs and extra financial options are finding entry to their first choice school more of a possibility. This in turn makes every other college start to dip lower into their lists as well. It has begun a ripple effect not seen in some time, much to the delight of the graduating senior class of most high schools.

From the article:
The Yale dean of admissions, Jeffrey Brenzel, said there would be about 45 wait-list offers this week and probably another round later this month.
Even colleges that had more than filled their freshman classes were wondering how many students would melt away if admitted off waiting lists elsewhere.
