
Digital photo frames, iPods and Tom Tom GPS navigation gear sold at some locations, have been found to be loaded with viruses. The viruses were installed at the factory in the last phase of production when the device was tested on a factory computer. When plugged into your home computer the virus spreads again. As many as four viruses have been found preinstalled on some devices and can disable anti-virus software and even look up passwords. The companies that manufacture the products would not reveal more information but to say they have taken measures to stop reacurrences.

Thousands of people whose antivirus software isn't up to date may have been infected by new products without even knowing it, experts warn. And even protective software may not be enough. In one case, digital frames sold at Sam's Club contained a previously unknown bug that not only steals online gaming passwords but disables antivirus software, according to security researchers at Computer Associates.
