Amanda Bowles/The News Leader Ruth Strandburg shifts fresh peanut butter cookies from the hot baking pan to a cooler surface in the kitchen of Knead More Bakery on Thursday afternoon in Fishersville. The bakery's mission is to help people with disabilities through employment and training opportunitiesRobert Vandevender had an idea, and with help from Sandy Reese and Sharon Hyden opened The Knead More Bakery in Fishersville, Virginia.  The idea behind the bakery is to help provide work for people with disabilities.  Mr. Vandevender, himself diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis a few years ago, may not have his arms or legs to use but has his mind and he says, "If you've got your mind, you can do it.".  Gary Larsen who opened the nonprofit 'The Positive Vibe Cafe' is encouraged by another business that helps with disabled people becoming independent and giving them the training they need to find work.  The cafe has had 180 disabled people graduate from it's restaurant training program and 40% have now found work.

"The mission of Knead More is to serve the needs of persons who have disabilities through employment and training. Knead More will promote the integration of persons who have mental and physical disabilities into society by helping them to become independent and evolve into contributing members of society," the statement reads in part.
